To me the hinge word is "availability". I think the availability of these things - self-worth, economic reward, general good karma - is largely in place.
Now broadening self-worth and economic reward (never mind availability - emphasis shifts toward actuality) is often the subtext here. This is a little harder in that it requires focused effort by the proposed beneficiary. This is imho a flaw in the current "self esteem based methods" movement. It tries to elevate self esteem and economic reward from a possibility to an entitlement. That's where I get all soggy and hard to light.

Your question, as I understood it, was how do we, you and I, or you or I, broaden the availability of self worth and economic reward for other people? And my response is, we don't..

True. But we do use largely irrelevant test scores to prevent highly competent students from getting the quality of education they deserve, and we do place a priority on these scores which can easily lead students who tests poorly to aim lower in life than they otherwise would.

This I think is unnecessary.
