"Class period" refers to the time period covering the class participants in a class action lawsuit. In the case of CPQ's suits for instance, it would be the period of time the class participants (shareholders) bought, sold or held CPQ stock. The article in Lancer's post was just notifying the world that the previous suits against CPQ will be expanded to include all stockholders of record up to and including April 9, 1999, when 5fer dropped his bomb.
