Nextlink Buys Bonds of Wireless Cable Providers, CNBC Says

New York, April 13 (Bloomberg) - Nextlink Communications Inc., a local exchange carrier controlled by cellular pioneer Craig McCaw, bought some bonds of so-called ''wireless-cable'' companies including Wireless One Inc., financial news network CNBC reported, citing unidentified sources. Nextlink joins MCI WorldCom Inc. and Sprint
Corp. in efforts to gain advanced wireless Internet links, while MCI WorldCom is expected to divulge its ownership of CAI Wireless Systems Inc. shares and bonds in the next week or two, said CNBC, citing sources close to MCI WorldCom. MCI Worldcom, one of the biggest equity holders of Nucentrix Broadband Networks, may also try and get Nucentrix and Wireless One to merge to then have control of the combined entity, said CNBC, citing unnamed sources.

Wireless cable involves the transmission of multiple channel television programming using microwave towers and small antennas fixed to homes or apartment complexes. (CNBC 4/12 www.cnbc.com)

It will be very interesting to see how the WIRL stock does the next
few days!

WIRL - Getting very interesting!

With MCI Worldcom's hand shown to all (of acquiring bonds of the Cable Wireless companies), more players are jumping into the fray. Sprint even jumped ahead and pulled a fast one on MCI WorldCom by buying out PCTV.

In this rush to get control of the Cable Wireless companies, whatever WorldCom had planned originally for Wireless One may be thwarted! Maybe they were hoping it would go the Nucentrix way where they got to be the biggest equity holders after the re-org leaving original shareholders with a pittance.

With Nextlink Communications Inc. buying up the bonds of WIRL too, things may have gotten hotter than they would have wanted.

So, it will be very interesting to see how things pan out.

Hopefully, it will be a good deal for the WIRL Shareholders!
