Hello again, Larry (& all)! -- Well, as expected, here is a response to your great comments/ questions, from Marum president Rick Boulay:

I'm impressed with Larry's three messages. They represent good research and insight and I'm glad you asked me to comment. Actually, there is not much to comment on except his questions about comparisons with the Ashton and Marum projects on one ore two specific items.

He asks if Ashton got better results on a crater facies than a diatreme facies. Its my understanding that all of Ashton's work so far is in crater facies. I think a better question would be... has Ashton evaluated any out of crater pyroclastic layers? I don't think so. The last time I asked, about 8 months ago, I was told that they were so busy finding and evaluating pipes that they had not had time to consider pyroclastic or volcaniclastic layers. I suspect that this situation still persists. They have a lot of work to do and I suspect they will eventually get around to investigating layered possibilities. Another factor in discussing pipes is that crater facies can fill the top 2km of pipes and in Alberta the entire pipe structures are in place. Also, the underlying pipe structures might not exist, they might be collapsed. We don't know yet, however there is some seismic evidence that some of the Ashton pipes do have downward continuation. I believe there will be a talk on this by Rob Pryde of AEC in two weeks in Calgary.

Larry asks that if Marum is drilling the "facies", can the kimberlite pipe be far away? I suppose there are several answers, ranging from "No!" to Maybe!" to "Who Cares!". We are looking for diamonds, not for pipes. The idea is to validate the target rocks as economic diamond hosts whether they be pipes or flat layers. I financed mines for fifteen years and I'll take flat layers any day.

It is useful to compare the results on the Chinchaga Diamond project with exploration models derived from existing diamond mines. The fact is that we have to perform more work over the next few months in order to validate the volcanics as legitimate diamond hosts over and above the current positive indications. The best way to do this is to recover diamonds. We have a lot of work to do and appreciate the support and questions which our news releases generate.
