OK, folks. Given all the fear this morning, who would have gladly taken a $2 and change down day today? Let's see hands :-)

Today was the mother of all head fakes. Futures down 20 pre-open, leading to a +165 Dow and a record day on the indexes. Looks to me like the money managers tried to play on the fear of individual investors to buy in cheap into a lot of stocks, but they failed, because the little guy held, knowing that Compaq is a POS anyway. So they had a lot of money to invest, and they bought in at higher prices.

On AOL, it seems to me that some money has gone out of AOL to play the other internets that are going to annouce earnings. When they announce, they will sell on the news and the money will flow back into AOL.

JMHO, as usual.
