renot so bad after all
I agree.
After Compaq's announcement I was afraid to face the market at all today. It was a busy day at work, so seeing the sad opening I just assumed the market and DELL would be trashed today. Instead the NYSE bull continues and DELL was off very little, considering.
I heard an intelligent broker today (Rob Brown who is on Market Watch and is in a brokerage in Wash D.C.) He said "Cpq's announcement is the usual bad news we get from compaq. It does not mean that other pc makers are suffering and will warn about earnings. For example DELL computer is a strong buy at these prices. It will go down today along with Compaq but the earnings will be strong and it will rebound.

BGR, although I am heavy into the techs, and lost some change today, I must admit that it was an amazing day with the three major indices hitting new highs. Who would have ever believed that this would happen. I suspect tomorrow the techs will do little during the day while everyone awaits the Intel earnings release. Sure hope its a blow out quarter and the CC has nothing but positive statements about the future. The CC will be extremely important...no matter how good the numbers are.
