"One.Tel to Award Lucent Cellular Network Contract, Paper Says

Sydney, April 13 (Bloomberg) -- One.Tel Ltd., an Australian telecommunications carrier, is expected to soon grant U.S.-based Lucent Technologies Inc. a A$240 million (US$150 million) contract to build One.Tel's cellular phone network, the Australian newspaper reported, without citing any sources. Lucent beat rivals Motorola Inc. and Nokia Oyj for the contract to build Australia's fourth cellular phone network, which will challenge Telstra Corp., Cable & Wireless Optus Ltd. and Vodafone. One.Tel's Joint Managing Director, Jodee Rich, said the cellular network would be profitable by the end of its second year, the paper reported."

Have seen a zillion of these PR reports posted on this thread in the last year...so why was LUCENT sold off today? Don't all these contracts mean profit eventually?

I believe that you can find something each and everyday that states that LUCENT has won this or been awarded that, etc...

Just let one one negative thing hit the news channels and plunk!...down it goes!
