A year and a half ago, when I was trying to figure out what a call and a put were, Jules Garfunkel explained to me exactly how IBM was spinning their numbers. And it made perfect sense. I bought some puts..and they came out with their earnings, and damned if everyone didn't completely ignore all the things that Jules had explained to me so carefully. I was flabbergasted. All his logic and knowledge meant NOTHING to these people. THey laughed in his face. It was my first exposure to what is now omnipresent in this market--the willingness to ignore facts, common sense, and good old-fashioned value. My mother would have died before she bought something on promises and credit, which in a way is what everyone is doing.
So I have no confidence that this time will be any different-- I just keep hoping.

When is the last time Fleck said anything nice about anything, stock-wise? He actually said that the small caps represent value.

And for this he gets paid?

For the last three years I have been a beachcomber, sorting through the sand looking for valuables. Now I got some. If his imprimature is the kiss of death, as I fear, I'm gonna be a helluva lot poorer. He should stick to bad-mouthing the big boys.
