MasterCez clarifies Worldgate IPO VS. ACTV--Good post from Yahoo: Here's the skinny on WorldGate.... by: MasterCez 6866 of 6894 Worldgate is an ISP, and they offer a HyperLinking function through their browser. Funny though, their Hyperlinking technology is the subject of patent infringement lawsuits by our buddies at Source media. HERE'S THE KEY GUYS: WorldGate technology cannot be deployed in markets where @Home or Roadrunner exist. Due to those cable operators having exclusivity agreements with @Home and RR. @HOME and RR control 2/3 of the US market. So WorldGate is competing with 1/3 of the market with WebTV and other TV internet providers. ACTV however, is free to be deployed anywhere because it is not a competing ISP, but "software in the box that will give AHOME and RR internet TV technology hyperlinking features. And ACTV's multi-camera angle technology is a completely different animal.
