D. Long,
I do agree that the USA has managed to keep the lid on, so to speak, for quite a while. This has been accomplished by having, among other things, the world's largest prison population, percentage-wise, by far. I suppose you can claim a "victory by suppression". In my view, it is not the races being intermixed that is the problem. It is, among other things, the individuals that come to power and bring their evils with them, ala Milosivec, Clinton, et. al. You like to think the "others" are the problem. Now isn't that strang. Noriega was a problem. We helped put him in power. Saddam is a problem. We helped put him in power. Who is really the problem? It is us and our constant intermeddling in other countries business. I find it amazing that you justify our ancestors stealing Indian land but find Serbia wrong for wanting to keep what historically has been theirs.

Where else in the world can you find Indians
living peacefully next to Pakistanis, Jews living next to Arabs, Russians mixing with
Chechnyans, Estonians, Finlanders and Latvians, Serbs living side by side with Croats
and Albanians, etc etc etc etc.

Just how many jews, arabs, albanians, etc. are there in Texas, the state with the great tolerance (as long as you don't get dragged behind a truck)?

The cities of America are in many (most?) cases as rigidly partitioned as the Balkans. The Chinese live in Chinatowns. (Ever heard of those?) The Jews in Brooklyn, NY live i enclaves which are rigidly segragated. Cambodians don't live in the same neighborhood as Laotians, who don't live in the same neighborhood as Japanese. In Pittsburgh, where I lived for a while, there are rigid ethnic neighborhoods; if you are of the wrong background you do NOT buy a house in their neighborhood. And on and on. Ever heard of gang turfs? It's real. The concept of an American melting pot is 50 years out of date. America is getting more, not less, segregated. Go to any college campus. Every ethnic group of any size has their own organization -- black students, hispanic students, jewish students, etc. Dorms are more and more becoming segregated.

Maybe in Texas, where you live cheek by jowl with Mexicans (you DO live in a mixed neighborhood, don't you??) everybody lives peacefully together. (We all know just how peaceful Texas is these days, what with Waco, the Texas militias, etc.) In the rest of America, we are becoming more, not less, integrated by the day.

Do you think Clinton is pushing for hate crime legislation because the problem is going away???

Wake up and smell the coffee, dear.
