<<Why not say that they "stole" the Old Testament too, since it is also part of the Christian Bible?>>

They did indeed, I do say it. There is a vast literature pointing out exactly how traditional Jewish scripture was ridiculously tortured by the evolving Pauline church to predict the advent and supercession of the Jesus character.

<<Did Mohammed steal from both Christians and Jews, when he made everyone from Abraham through Jesus prophets of Islam? >>

I don't know enough about the origins of Islam to discuss it.

<<Since they reject the whole of the Sermon on the Mount as "inauthentic" (!!??), >>

Actually, they don't reject the whole of the Sermon on the Mount. But I'm not a partisan of their conclusions, anyway. IMO they're right on some issues and wrong on a lot of others; but I regard the Jesus seminar guardedly, with suspicion, because, as I've said on this thread, I believe they are deeply concerned to rescue from the texts a non-apocalyptic Jesus, and I understand just why they want to, but think they're wrong.

Speaking of questions, I wonder how you and others on this thread feel about the foundational conclusion of so much of recent Bible scholarship, to wit, that the dead Jew, Jesus, was turned into a mystical persona at the center of a new religious mythos that had at its heart blame and hatred for the Jews of Jesus's own time, which became the fountainhead of the hideous plague of antisemitism that is continuing to this day.
