Thanks for the reference. In fact, I've had the PAIR site bookmarked for awhile, and went back and read some more last night. I will quickly admit that some of the info on the site goes right past me!

I'm still having trouble with the cost issues. How much will the telcos be charging, or will it cost them, for HDSL2 deployment? For that matter, how much will the alternatives cost?

I'm also aware of the focus of the two dsl's. My point was more along the lines of: It seems like G.Lite is a dud. Telcos are resisting implementation, and G.Lite doesn't give the full bandwidth kick that people may be looking for. Medium term (within 10 years?) people will be looking to move to full video on demand, and higher bandwidth than G.Lite supports. The question then is what is the interim solution? Does G.Lite give them 5-7 years' grace? Or, do they implement a wider-bandwidth solution to give themselves a little more time to settle on a true wideband solution?

I think that PAIR's engineers haven't proven themselves infallible in the marketing part of things. They may have designed a product for one segment (business) which may be attractive in another segment (soho).
