cups & handles & earnings <<So far it looks like the best performers broke out of the handle a few days before the earnings announcement (e.g. ELNK, JEF), and those that announce while still in the handle go down (AKLM) as often as up (INFS)>> Long John all well and true but there are extenuating circumstances. INFS had a terrific earnings report and AKLM just met expectations. But the first sentences is as close to being a good strategy as I have found. I timed DLJ a little wrong by selling to early but otherwise ELNK, MSPG, and some others are right on target. then you have the stock that breaks out of the handle is as overbought as can be but still surges (i.e. SONE,NTBK,ATHM, etc).. I guess once is broken out the sky's the limit. I never traced earnings plays like this before so its a first for me. I'm also testing the range expansion indicator to see if the range does in fact expand on the breakout of the earnings plays and it actually does.
