ATLANTA, April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- JetForm® Corporation (Nasdaq: FORM - news; Toronto: JFM - news), the global leader in workflow and e-process solutions, today unveiled InTempo(TM) 4.0, its e-process engine. Today's announcement represents a major milestone in the company's Internet strategy, which focuses on automating essential business processes on intranets, extranets, and the Internet.

JetForm has re-architected its market-leading InTempo workflow engine to support the emerging classes of ''e-process'' applications. An e-process application uses the Web platform to automate the flow of work and information among customers, partners, suppliers, distributors, and employees. E- processes help companies provide better and faster service more efficiently, securely, and profitably. Converting paper processes to digital processes is a key element in the new economy, as described by Microsoft Corp. Chairman and CEO Bill Gates, in his new book, ''Business at the Speed of Thought.''

Industry analysts agree that workflow and e-commerce are intrinsically linked. According to market researcher Dataquest, JetForm is ranked as the vendor with the largest worldwide marketshare in the workflow software market, with a 15.8 percent share. E-process, as an enabler of e-commerce, is a natural evolution for JetForm and its market-leading workflow engine, InTempo.

InTempo 4.0 is the ideal e-process engine for applications that extend across the value chain to include customers, partners, and employees. Examples of applications where InTempo can drive e-processes include Employee Self Service (ESS), Customer inquiry management, and Web-based procurement.

The Workflow Engine For E-Process Applications

''InTempo continues to emerge as the workflow engine of choice for the new breed of e-process applications that companies are seeking to deploy,'' said Andrew Jackson, vice president of product marketing for JetForm. ''With version 4.0, InTempo further embraces a Web-centric model supporting browser-based access for all process participants -- from customers to employees. As companies use the power of the Web to create e-processes, we believe that InTempo will continue to be the automation engine of choice.''

New features in version 4.0 address the three primary audiences:

For End Users:

-- InTempo Web Worklist -- InTempo uses Active Server Pages to provide a dynamic, comprehensive, customizable ''Web Worklist'' that helps participants effectively manage their e-processes. It allows users to initiate a process, access and track work items, view reports and set preferences -- all from a standard Web browser.

-- Self-Service Tracking Capabilities -- Users can search for work items according to a wide range of parameters including process name, date/time range, form fields, and status. This empowers employees and customers to monitor their own requests.

-- InTempo Envelope -- InTempo enables authorized users to drag and drop attachments such as documents, spreadsheets, images, or presentations onto a work item -- all from a standard Web browser. For example, the envelope for an e-process loan application might contain the application form, a customer profile, and other related correspondence. All information required for processing is readily available and travels with the request.

For Application Developers:

-- Integration With Multiple Forms Technologies -- InTempo 4.0 offers tight integration with JetForm's FormFlow® 99 powerful XML-based forms, along with HTML forms. FormFlow 99 creates intelligent and secure Internet forms that can automate regulatory and business processes, acting as the data capture component for e-processes.

-- Process Map Versioning -- Improves flexibility and responsiveness by allowing developers to change workflow definitions on-the-fly.

For Administrators:

-- Graphical Reporting -- With InTempo, process administrators can measure e-process performance and determine the source and nature of any bottlenecks.

-- Microsoft Integration -- InTempo is tightly integrated with Microsoft technologies, including Internet Information Server (IIS), Windows NT Server, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft Management Console. This leverages the investment and expertise already resident within organizations.

-- Security -- Confidentiality is assured with InTempo's comprehensive security model, which includes authentication at several levels, process permissions, support for e-forms containing digital and digitized signatures, network level encryption, role-based security and policy enforcement. JetForm's security partners include Entrust Technologies, Verisign Inc., Silanis Technology and PenOp Inc.

E-Process Workflow Engine Draws Praise

''JetForm's new e-process workflow engine adds value to customers' core business systems by taking advantage of their current investments in a wide range of Microsoft technologies,'' said Donna Connor, knowledge management solutions manager for Microsoft Corporation. Application Developers Customer Unit. ''The ability to automate a host of core business and administrative processes using JetForm InTempo in conjunction with leading Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft Exchange, NT Server, SQL Server 7.0, IIS and IE, will give a wide range of customers a business and competitive advantage.''

''InTempo 4.0 provides a strong, flexible foundation for rapidly developing and deploying a wide range of secure, Web-based, line-of-business applications,'' said Bill Chambers, senior analyst at Doculabs, an industry advisory and research firm. ''InTempo has evolved nicely to support JetForm's e-process vision, which we believe is well supported by customer requirements.''

Pricing and Availability

InTempo 4.0 is available immediately from JetForm and its authorized resellers. Pricing begins at $20,000 for 100 users.
