<<Dell's move into the top spot within the US workplace has been driven primarily by Dell's strength within US commercial workplace sites with more than 500 employees. This high value segment has been the focus of Dell's salesforce over the last few years and from the looks of it, the hard work has paid off. Dell has increased market share consecutively in every quarter since the fourth quarter of 1997 and the preliminary results from the first quarter of 1999 indicate that Dell is now opening up a sizable lead over Compaq.
