For a really, really powerful anti war movie, I suggest "Johnny Got His Gun". I am pretty sure that is the name of it. It is about a soldier recovering from wounds in the 1st world war. I still tear up just thinking about it.

Although I generally try to get good coverage on well-regarded movies, there are some that I tend to put into the "some day on video" category. Fairly or not, the English Patient seemed to have the atmosphere that often inclines me in that direction, creating the fear of a kind of heavy- handed BBC approach, and I have not so far gotten around to it. Here's one for you--- did you see "Wild Man Blues", about Woody Allen's European tour with a jazz ensemble? An interesting glimpse post- scandal...
