Another Apple hardware salesman is NOT what Inprise needs right now. PC and Mac people generally do not understand distributed computing, even those involved in the software end of the spectrum. Apple execs think application software is something Microsoft writes to help them sell boxes. It's really the blind leading the blind here. You've got this core collection of Apple has-beens seeded by by Del and now they're all bobbing around Inprise trying to upgrade their skills in the enterprise computing arena. It's an earn-while-u-learn exercise at Inprise U.

The Visigenics thing is looking like more of a disaster every day. If you look at what is available in Java right now, there's little or no need for an language-neutral object bus. Write it in Java or get lost, you have Java on both ends and everywhere in between: client, server, middle. Java's native interface with Beans and JDBC provide excellent access to legacy resources, too. Microsoft's proprietary Java technology (they own their own Beans at the very least) along with DCOM/COM and Visual Abortion don't require CORBA, either.

Fatty, Fatty to buy for more.
