Patrick, Re cable modems I couldn't agree more with your sentiments. I am waiting eagerly for ADSL to become available in my area at a reasonable price and for ADSL modems to become broadly available in the PC market. I expect my next PC to be bought within the next year and to have an ADSL connection to the Internet. Cable modem is already available but there's no way I want to give large sums of money to let a rich cable conglomerate control my Internet connection they way they want to. Their approach just goes against the whole spirit of the Internet. Regards, G.P.
