As I've said before, Internet is not just a technological advance like the invention of computers, Internet is the human behavior change that's going to realign the wealth distribution once again. If you only view the Internet as another incremental technology advance, you may miss the big picture. First, there was the stand alone computer, that didn't change anything significantly, now the computers want to talk to other computers and do all the work for us, from that point on everything changed. Economy is simply human interaction to exchange goods and services, with Internet, this interaction model changed, thus the economy changed for good. Past 30 years of technology advances only lay the ground for the real revolution that is happening now.
