Mani - AMD vs. .18

Thank you for the response.

<As far as timing the 0.18, I remember that during last CC Sanders said that by 4th quarter of 1999, AMD "will ship larger percentage of its chip in 0.18 than Intel". I remember this point very specifically. Obviously this point has to be taken with a grain of salt.>

Mani, I would bet a good size chunk of change that this is NOT going to be the case. An Intel Exec, Pat Gelsinger, late last week indicated that .18 production wafer starts have already commenced. This is the beginning of Q2, not Q4. "A grain of salt" is putting it mildly.

This is what really P.O.'s me about AMD. Sanders and his WAG's when he speaks in public is sickening, IMHO.

Mani - Re: AMD vs. .18 (again)

"will ship larger percentage of its chip in 0.18 than Intel".

Mani, I need to backtrack somewhat, as I evidently misinterpreted the "percentage" part of the statement. Saying that, I would still bet maybe a slightly smaller chunk of change that this is not going to be the case. Just my WAG.
