There's nothing but misinformation on this thread. Recycled and misinterpreted old news and speculation that is only worthy of pub chatter after a few beers....Does anyone understand the technology? In spite of all of the statements, none of the analysts has changed their opinion on Ciena. So the bottom line is that in spite of a drop from $25 to $17, nothing significant has materialized that would justify the movement (up or down) in the stock. The risks have always been there....People here have assessed that Lucents earnings are coming in different from the street?....You've got to be joking.....R

Frank,

I haven't read this thread for some time. I have backtracked to find you, having saved your reply #5665 back in Nov. The value to me was your explanation about how close to fully optical digital cross connect switches and other devices are. You referred to the SR thread on SI and to SR's claims to throughput enhancing. As strictly a passive reader of SI due to my limited knowledge ,I am now breaking through my embarrassment and asking a question. What is SR? Is this a private company that I don't know?

Will I now have the nerve and start asking too many questions??
