America Online, Inc., the world's leading interactive services company, and HealthQuick.com, the discount online vitamin and healthcare products site for consumers, today announced a marketing and e-commerce alliance that will expand the range of health-related products available across the AOL family of brands.
Under the terms of the two-year deal, America Online will receive guaranteed minimum payments from HealthQuick.com totaling $10 million. "HealthQuick.com will offer AOL and CompuServe members, as well as the millions of other Internet users of AOL.COM and the Digital City sites a fast and easy way to purchase vitamins and related products," said Myer Berlow, Senior Vice President of Interactive Marketing at AOL. "Forrester research predicts that U.S. households' online spending will nearly triple by 2003. This explosion of electronic commerce is being driven by consumers' search for easier and more convenient ways to shop for everyday products like the ones offered by HealthQuick."
Herbert H. Haft, Chief Executive Officer of HealthQuick.com said: "America Online, as the Internet's leading interactive services company, is setting the standard and direction for the growth of e-commerce. The AOL family of brands attracts millions of people who have proven time and again that they are looking for ways to use the Internet to make their lives easier. As a deep discount e-commerce site, this is a powerful audience for us to reach, and we are very excited about the opportunity this partnership presents."
Howard Diener, Chief Operating Officer of HealthQuick.com added, "We believe that what sets us apart from other online retailers is our commitment to offering consumers best discounts possible. Convenience will certainly continue to be at the heart of the e-commerce revolution, but we think that a growing segment of online mass market is also looking not just for an easier way to purchase their everyday items, but also a cheaper way. With the high cost of health-related items in particular, we're sure the combination of convenience and low prices will be a winner."
