I agree. Making that kind of comment -- that the recovery in Asia will be delayed or snuffed out because of rising energy prices - is exactly the kind of "safe bet" hedge that these talking heads are renowned for. It's a way of laying groundwork for future excuses.

Asia's recovery is going to be driven by strong and ongoing demand for its manufactured goods, as subsidized by cheap labor and a low cost of doing business. The costs of energy -- especially at the prices available now - are still less than they were two years ago, when everybody was going bananas about Asia's growth potential.

That potential is still there, it's just been slowed down for 2 - 3 years, IMHO.
