I just saw $ 7 on my real time quote. Wonder how high this is going today? Tomorrow? Next week?

The near term move is about the fact that Ampex is establishing a global Internet TV network, and about the fact that they are hiring some very, very good people that are capable of doing exactly that. The hiring yesterday and the announcement of their intentions opened some eyebrows around the country, and people are sitting up and taking notice (and buying stock).

Rip Van AMPEX is awake!

To All:
Ampex up to $7.00 as of 10:01 am. Looks like the juggernaut is beginning to move.

We've just been discovered. All my broker friends that knew about this stock two months ago and laughed at me are now eating crow and scrambling to get on board. It feels good to be right once in a while.
I'm strapped in, are you? <g>

Ed,

Glad to see you on a safer thread.

My feelings about the business models are that the Internet is a communications medium; i.e., two sided interaction. I think its possible to embed a TV in the WEB but not the other way around.

The IATV business model is an extension of TV broadcasting. In essence a move to sustain TV in its current form. I believe it can only exist in this high margin value network and will be very vulnerable to narrowcasting and other true WWW forms down the road.

I also think that TV viewers do not want every channel to look like Home Shopping on methedrine. With a keyboard in one hand and a mouse in the other as advertisers track their every move.
