On one of my previous plays, a different way that I protect shorts is to buy calls against the short instead of a hard stop. Than I cover the short side, and let the calls run.

Nandu=smartdude....I've been with egrp long enough to know its easier simply staying long than shorting and trying to figure out when and how deep the next "consolidation" will be and then getting back on board...tough guessing game...check out the dopes who short on the yahoo boards...each day the longs tar and feather someone who makes a big deal out of shorting, only to go home down some serious change...yes, there will be consolidation, but it it so much easier and in the end, profitable to simply sit tight...history repeats itself.
