BP...over a short period of time you won't be able to buy a Celeron chip anymore...they will be out of production.

Pentium III's will sell very well.

The lower end will always be attractive to the casual user at a lower price.

The business and power users..tech gadget geek will always want the latest and most powerful system because these newer systems perform new functions and are faster than the low end and older generation of computers.

It's a normal transition from one generation of PC's to the next.

Anyone out there running an old 8080, 286, 386,??? Some 486's still
banging away...Pentium's more so..
Try geting new software or games that will run on a 486...

Hi bp,
I thought I had saved the statistics that I read at the beginning of this year, but I can't locate them (alzheimers?)
The numbers were 98 sales were 95kk boxes
99 forecast was a 15% growth (say 105kk) down from 20% growth rate last year. I suspect that these numbers include laptops too
