Stephan,

>>>> but I also thought Options Jerry took a lot of stick when he was bullish ... and I posted a congrats message to him congratulating him on making the call despite what seemed over-rigorous attacks on his position.....<<<<<

I am totally in agreement and frown on that type of attitude, but it gets rediculous that those who do not act childish in that manner still get targeted only because they have similar views of the market.
Hey if one is a acting like a child, then treat that person accordingly but to target the whole group or part of it using one
person's inappropriate attitude is not justified.

As for being sensitive, I have to admit that I became more sensitive after receiving nasty emails/pms from those who disagreed with me.

Am I mistaken or is the LU 'positive' announcement another 'cloaked' warning a la DELL ??.... As I understand it thay are saying they will meet estimates and may beat them. So ... they will get EPS of 0.14 ... but may not hit the whisper of 0.15 ????. Guess it depends on how one looks at it, but there doesn't sound much upside to that news.

That wasn't the intention of the post and I believe that there is a sensitivity by
many who post here which I often personally fail to understand. Perhaps it is the
medium used to communicate ... I don't know.
<<<<<<<<

Stephen,

you have hit the nail right in the head. This is a very unforgiving medium to communicate. Many "secondary signs" which are present in normal talk (smile, playful tone, self-deprecating tone, face gestures, etc, etc, etc...) are missing here. Many "normal" constructions such as sarcasm, irony, and even humor, translate very badly.

My standard recommendation to my kids at school that start using the Internet is

- Write as straight as possible.
- Make your points as un-ambiguous as possible.
- Never use irony or sarcasm.
- Intent very little humor and use <g>'s profusely if you do.
- Give the benefit of doubt to your interlocutor even if you think he tried to insult you.

Many of the problems on-line start when you are not completely happy with the way a phrase sounds, but you send it anyway because you are in a hurry.

Let's all try to be a little bit less sensitive, and give the other party the benefit of the doubt when you feel you've been aggravated.
