For whatever reason, at one time I was willing to pay more for a PC because it had a Compaq label on it. I would not consider a Packard Bell because I felt that it was an inferior product.

Today, I feel the same way about Dell that I used to feel about Compaq - and I feel about Compaq the way I use to feel about Packard Bell.

I feel I could trust and understand what Michael Dell is trying to tell me. He can focus on producing the highest quality PC with the lowest cost structure to the benefit of all.

I don't know what the heck Pfeiffer is trying to tell me. All I know is that he is very ambitious and that he wants to make Compaq the largest computer company in the world - and no mention about it (Compaq) being the most profitable company in the world.

The fact that Michael Dell is telling me that the PC business is robust and that HWP's Ceo Platt is also telling me the PC business is profitable - and Eckhard Pfeiffer tells me at the last minute (a week after the qtr end) that earnings are half of what was estimated and was due to weak demand in PCs suggests to me someone is not telling the truth.

The fact that Pfeiffer told me the same thing last year this time and that the channels were full of inventory that he had stuffed it with tells me that Pfeiffer is either very dense or very deceptive.

Chances are he is both dense and deceptive. He is trying to hide his own mismanagement by blaming poor earnings on market conditions rather than anything that he has done wrong. And, of course, to a certain extent he has succeeded in fooling the investing public.

And, in the same way, you have succeeded in fooling us with your posts. I don't understand your agenda. What is it that you are trying to tell us? The message is not clear.
