IPVoice.com - New Name Unveiled forEmerging Internet Telephony Company

April 19, 1999 10:42 AM
LITTLETON, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 19, 1999--

Company Plans to Market New Voice Over IP Service to Consumers and Businesses Across the USA in the $100 Billion Domestic Long Distance Market

IPVoice Communications Inc. IPVC Monday unveiled their new company name, IPVoice.com. The company plans to market its voice over IP service soon to consumers and businesses across the USA and Canada to capture a stake in the $100 billion long distance market.

The name change is part of IPVoice.com's long term strategy to market their proprietary product which will allow consumers and businesses to make long distance calls over the Internet for a substantially reduced cost. This service will compete directly with traditional long distance service offered by AT&T T , Sprint FON and MCI WorldCom WCOM . With IPVoice.com's new service, consumers will only need a regular telephone to make an Internet phone call, expanding its market to almost every household in America. IPVoice.com will also aggressively compete with products from IDT IDTC and NetSpeak NSPK that require the customer to have a PC to make an Internet phone call.

The name IPVoice.com reflects the company's focus on creating an image that the average consumer can understand. "Our focus has always been and always will be our customer. The name change reflects our commitment to ensure that the consumer is clear on what service we have to offer - voice over the Internet. We want our service to be simple and easy to use," said Anthony K. Welch, co-founder. "The company name IPVoice.com as well as the domain name is probably one of the most coveted names on the Internet. This adds tremendous value to our branding opportunities."

"The advantage we have over any other IP telephony company is that we designed and created our TrueConnect Gateway. Since we own the software, we are able to substantially reduce the overhead cost of the service and increase potential profits," said Barbara Will, president.

"The TrueConnect Gateway software allows consumer or business voice transmissions to be converted to data packets so the transmissions can be sent over the Internet," added Welch. "The software is fully Y2K compliant and we have developed it in such a manner that we can make modifications as the needs of our customers change. IPVoice is researching providing fax services over the Internet similar to the product EFax EFAX offers."

Will stated: "Now the timing is right, consumers are beginning to understand Internet telephone calls and we are poised to bring them a simple and easy solution which will eventually replace billions they annually spend on their traditional long distance calls."

The aggressive branding goals are similar to what Xerox has done to the document industry. "Whenever customers want to make a long distance call, we want them to think of us, they will be making an IPVoice call," said Will.

In the upcoming weeks, IPVoice.com plans to announce details on their new Internet call service as well as marketing partnerships that will help them gain marketshare in the long distance market. You can visit their website at www.IPVoice.com for details in the upcoming weeks.

Domestic long distance revenues have climbed to over $100 billion in 1998. With the consumer's acceptance of the Internet, it is expected that over the next few years a large part of these revenue dollars will be spent on Internet telephone calls. IPVoice.com is positioning itself to emerge as one of the leaders in this industry with their aggressive expansion and marketing plans.
