<US Economy> Conference Board's 'business confidence' index UP.

Interesting to note that most of the CEOs thinks things are looking up,well what do you know may be it is.

.... The Conference Board's measure of business confidence rose for the second consecutive quarter to 46 in the first quarter of 1999 from 43 in the prior quarter.

''CEO confidence is being strengthened by the continued positive growth of the U.S. economy,'' said Lynn Franco, associate director of The Conference Board's Consumer Research Center.

About 25 percent of CEOs in the survey said economic conditions have gotten better in the past six months, compared with 12 percent last year.

But top executives said regulation and litigation could bite into employment growth. Only 24 percent predicted employment levels in their industry will rise, down from 30 percent last year. Meanwhile, 39 percent anticipate a decrease, up from 26 percent, the report said.
