Mary: PC's are expected to grow from 140m to 500m in 4 yrs on a global basis. Further, in the developed world, the PC will continue to be increasingly used as a Server for PALM devices.

This growth will be tied directly to the Economic growth cycle. Currently we are +ve but by mid year thanks to Y2K there may be a bigger slow down in PC sales. Hence it is likely that INTC may be lower later this year.

I think it would be prudent for the short term Worry to death Investor to hedge beyond June 99.

Re: "Whereas, a TV by definition will not change much in 100 years."

It may not even exist...maybe the term TV will eventually go away.

Re: "Why would a...college kid of the future own separate devices for a TV"

If a college student purchases a PCI TV/FM Tuner card, they wouldn't even need the TV (*) nor stereo... just "tune" in using the PC. Since dorm rooms are small, this consolidation may be handy.

(*) Yes, parents may now tell their college-aged children, "no, I cannot buy you a $250 TV + $150 stereo = $400, but here's your $100 PCI TV/FM tuner card!"
