To my understanding there is no reason you couldn't use a cable modem or ADSL line with Scotia or any other secure system. As long as you have a 128bit browser it should not be a problem.

I use a cable modem with service provided through Shaw Cable in Calgary and I trade through Investorline on some of my accounts.

I've had no problems at all with the equipment.
