I've been defending Datek when it seemed the criticizms were unjust - but today, was just abysmal.

My clumsy and slow TradeStar broker was doing better - if it weren't for them, I'd have lost out on today's huge gains. I traded NITE, which fortunately is marginable at Tradestar - and is not at Datek! Today, NITE zoomed up 20 points (over 20%). My other trade was SFE, up 19 points (over 20%). What a shame that most of my money is at Datek - so my gains at Tradestar were limited. Oddly, Cyber also worked perfectly today.

Well - I guess the good times have come to an end at Datek. The "speed burst" lasted 3 weeks or so. Now it's back to the Bermuda Triangle of lost orders, endless cancelling and "unavialble servers". I guess I should keep at least 200K in every account - and I have 4 brokers. Unfortunately I'm not quite that rich - and I've elected to keep 80% of my money at Datek. What to do? Is there going to be another "speed burst" soon, or is the old pattern of empty promises "silly" claims, and intense frustration about to settle in - I do remember it so well... months and months of this BS back in 98 and early 99. Only now it's even "better" - practically nothing is shortable (so you are "taken care of" in a down market), and practically nothing is marginable (so you are "taken care of" in a climbing market).

I just don't know what to do anymore.

OT: hey Jon, maybe this "signalling" should be a new guide to trading<ggg>!
