Say goodbye to the old gang, long live the new gang. I am aware that this kind of fire and brimstone preaching is not for everyone. It is, however, my style. And this being an open forum, I would like to share it with those of you who care to listen. This is not unaccompanied by a twinkle in the eye. In the Pali, a man is held to be unlucky if he does not find buried treasure at least once in his life. And, again, when he does find it, he is advised to divide it into five parts: One part he should keep and spend on himself and his friends; the second part he should spend doing good works; the third part he should put away in some safe place for a rainy day; and the last two parts he should reinvest. Surely for us older players, it's a different game after yesterday. The rules are likely to be the opposite of those that applied during the past year or so. Before, it was all us trying to coax her into a little action. Now it's her game. Her idea is to exhaust us of all our little shares. Hang on to your stock. Stay calm. Don't release your shares prematurely. Her trick is faking it. And if she fools you, unless you can really recover quickly, she's off with a younger share holder. Again, for the old bulls, this is the slaughter. This is where the danger is loosing one's head. It is time to remember why the farmer fattens his stock. It is time to remember that the farmer does not seed his pasture out of kindness for his cattle. This is where all of us newly hatched sea turtles scramble to get to the sea, only to be ruthlessly picked off as a tasty morsel for a gull or large fish. This is where the lion drives the herd in panic forward and back, separating one from the herd and picking him off. This is where the fisherman tempts one with tasty morsels on the end of his hook. This is where the farmer, seeing his winter wheat grown up straight and tall, brings out his scythe and begins to mow; harvesting the winter wheat, preparing for the spring planting. This is the time of False Prophets, emerging, in their fake rags and humility, offering sage advise for the unwary to separate them from their wealth. Be Careful, My Brothers and Sisters! Walk with alertness! Do not stray far from the path, do not join in the heedless revelry and get caught up with the crowd. Few are those who come upon sudden wealth who do not end up corrupted!
