This acquisition is very strategic. Not only does it allow NT to get Shasta's technology which of course is one of the hottest things in networking - edge service enabler for the carriers networks, but also it enabled NT to get industry top executives from Shasta shastanets.com These people represent inside strategy brains from Cisco, Cascade, and others. They have the best knowledge and connections to the enterprise and carrier worlds. The key thing is to keep these people and leverage their power. Most of the key people as a result of acquisitions to Nortel are no longer there after a short period of time. That includs Centillion, Xilogics, LANcity, RapidCity, and New Oak.
