>>Iomega's revenues will be split over 3 products rather than two (ZIP / Jaz).<<

They have really been split over many more products than that.

What about all of the different Zip variations such as SCSI internal, SCSI external, IDE internal, ATAPI internal, PP external, Zip Plus, USB external, Pocket Zip (Addonics, but still revenue) and whatever versions of the Zip 250 that they have out?

They are all 'Zip', but I'm sure that they all have different costs, parts, and margins which is why we see variations phased in and out as some prove to be more widely accepted and more profitable than others.

You have the same situation with the 1Gb and 2Gb Jaz drives and disks

Then you get into the other products, such as Buz (Agreed, not much revenue, but still a product), Ditto (for a little while longer) and Clik! As well as the 'support' products like the Zip cases, racks, battery packs, carrying cases, media wallets, cables, tapes, SCSI cards. None are big money makers, but they are still Iomega branded products and therefore revenue.

>>it's a zero sum game<<

Is it really? I don't believe that everyone that would buy a Zip 250 would have bought a Zip 100 if they hadn't seen the 250 on the shelf, or vice versa.

It is possible that there are two separate markets out there (with some overlap of course).

I know some people that have wanted a Zip for a long time, but couldn't bring themselves to part with the $150.00. Those people are now starting to buy the Zip 100 since they have dropped down into their price range. They need functionality on a budget.

I know others that need more speed and capacity, or always want the latest toy no matter what the cost is. These are buying the Zip 250s and Jaz drives. They are usually the power users, or else they just got in the way of a good salesman :-)
