I didn't.

From about the age of 7 or 8 til my early 20's (or before I moved to my present location), one of my favorite places to play and or get away to was the river.

The area in which I spent most of my time during these excursions was located at the southern most end of a huge pasture which was adjacent to the local sale barn. Next to the sale barn was the city treatment plant. I guess the city planners had the good sense to keep all of the most fragrant scents confined to one small location.

Anyway, one day I was walking along the railroad tracks which ran along side the sale barn and treatment plant, and noticed a sizeable stand of large green plants. Curious, I walked into the midst of them and immediately recognized the crop to be marijuana. They had grown from seed which I guess had been in the sludge from the treatment plant. There was quite a bit of the sludge all laid out over about half an acre. Guess they had to dump it somewhere.

Now that I think about it, the sludge looked a whole lot like potting soil.
