It means that money is going to go out of boxes and chips, yet again, and right into phone stocks.

LT and gang:

Will not listen to CC as there is too much going on this PM.
If anyone does and can provide synopsis, it would be appreciated by all.

First cut on INTC:

Revs were a disappointment. While not one person has noticed or mentioned it, revs should have been higher, especially as INTC bought revs when it bought Shiva, Chips, Level One, etc. Revs down 7% from Q4 is a worry.

Revs up 18%, earnings up 58%,... not where I come from,....it doesn't work that way without plenty of accounting activity.

Interest AND OTHER was up significantly. This goes straight to the bottom line and has significant impact on same. Buying bonds for this kind of income might be more appropriate.

Cash is up $2.9 billion (sequentially). Investments are down $1.5 billion. As I expected, it looks like they sold off something and made a decent profit on it. MU? Some of their internut holdings? Any of this dough make it to revs? Not enough info provided to be sure. Much work needed here tonight.

Big stock buybacks continue and stock outstanding keeps on expanding. Of course they have been buying companies.

Earnings down sequentially will not play well in the current environment, especially given the acquisitions.

More later as we dig in to numbers.

Best, Earlie
