Glued to the computer..the thing is that one year ago people were not holding a stock like NTBK as an investment. They were buying stocks like SPLS, ODP, or DIS.. If I had held the entire position from 15 I would have now 1,000-1,200 shares from 15 to 241 and that is not the case, not by a long shot. But as I was getting 'comfortable' with stocks like MSPG, NSOL, VRIO, NTBK my forays were longer and longer and from January 1999, I was at a point that I felt relatively safe holding small positions of net stocks. The more I made the more risk tolerant I was becoming. It as simple as that.

I'm at the point now that even with ABOV down 11 today I didn't even bat an eyelash or place a stop. Now that is because I have only 200 shares, but if I had 1,000 shares I'd be out by now. It's just too much trouble to sell than rush to rebuy some of them so I just hold. I held SDLI,SONE,DRIV, VRIO, NITE,MLTX,WEBT through downdrafts but not stocks like NSOL, AWRE or CNET. The one and only reason I sold 80% of NTBK yesterday was because it was a lot of money and I saw first hand the futures down 20 and I was getting nervous, not nervous enough to sell the entire position though.

Don't forget you are seeing it now in retrospect, but unless you have about 1-2 million invested I wouldn't put more than 30% of my net worth into long term stocks. I would rather churn and get 'fresher' and fresher trades. I like being on the computer. If I were daytrading I'd hate it, but I seldom make more than 4 trades a day and rarely sell the same day (RMII, MESG were exceptions because I am really unfamiliar with them and RMII from experience I know has intraday pullbacks after runups)..

It would really be a better idea at this point in time to buy a small amount of a diversified 'net basket of stocks rather than put all your bets in one internet stock.
