George, This post as well as the post #3232 referring to (leftist) Pr Chossudovsky of yours are quite instructive but they lack in helping us to appraise the historical vicious circle that was going on in the Balkans prior to the therapy enforced by the U.S. Excerpt from your post:Bonn and Washington's "hidden agenda" consisted in triggering nationalist liberation movements in Bosnia and Kosovo with the ultimate purpose of destabilising Yugoslavia. The latter objective was also carried out "by turning a blind eye" to the influx of mercenaries and financial support from Islamic fundamentalist organisations. Now the question is: where did all these allegedly nationalist liberation movements come from?? I mean did Washington create all these diverse ethnic Balkan tribes from scratch, ex nihilo ? You just can't trigger anything if there is not something to trigger!! And the Balkan tribes didn't wait for the U.S. or Germany to hate each other! This ethnic conflict between Serbs, Croats, Albanians, Greeks, and you name it! was going on for centuries... Sometimes it climaxed and burst into outrageous massacres --as in Bosnia in 1995 or as in WWII. Therefore, I think that the duty of the U.S.A. is to help all these ethnic minorities to live in harmony with each other and to set up a political framework that is fitted to carry out such a task. I've heard people blaming the US for flinging Serbia back into Stone Age, as far as its industrial infrastructure is concerned. But, the irony is that the Serbs, together with all their neighbouring tribes (Albanians, Greeks, Croats, etc) were still living in Stone Age! They're Stone Age-minded!! Scrambling with each other for a few acres of mud... like their paleolithic ancestors! If Kosovo becomes an independant, Albanian-ruled country, then the US sould guarantee the Serbs that they'll have continuous, safe access to their holy, historical monasteries and churches. No question of allowing Albanians to deplete the Serbs' historical legacy! After all, that's the current policy with Israel: every year, Catholic pilgrims can go to Bethleem, Nazareth, etc. to visit Christian sacred spots... Speaking of Catholics, I find the last official statement of the Vatican DISGUSTING! Blaming the NGOs for distributing abortion pills to Albanian women? Even if some of the allegedly raped women is to be accounted for as Albanian propaganda, the Vatican has no right to pipe up a word in that issue! After all, those are Muslim women! Do the Pope intend to evangilize them? I don't think so... Hence, the Pope is blaming NGO personel for helping distressed, raped Muslim women! Such an obscenity! Next, I see one of your favorite tune is about the dubious link between the KLA and the narco-traffic... But, as your articles rightfully point to, almost every ''Just Cause'' the US or some other country has engaged into, can be related to the drug business: from the Vietnam war to the KLA to Nicaragua Contras to Afghanistan Mujaheddins to... the Russian government! If you really care about fighting narcotics smuggling then ask for an embargo against Switzerland!
