Any thoughts on the action today? Bruce weighed in with his take. I still think activity was higher on the down side than it has been. Riding the stock up in the last quarter of 1997 and in 1998, there was volatility, but at these price levels, movements are magnified. I presume by the lack of response that the AZA Ditropan hypothesis holds no water. Other than J&J, pharms generally have not sparkled recently. Perhaps, as has been rumored from time to time, slick Willie is about to roll out another Ira M initiative to push down prescription prices. There was a fairly compelling piece in the Jan. (I think) issue of Foreign Affairs Quarterly concerning the graying of the world's population (Japan to feel acute effects first, then Europe, then USA--these areas, almost no population growth--thus fewer working to support programs for the aged). Medicare funding crisis will soon overwhelm Soc. Sec. funding issues, and this will gain steadily in political and media profile over the next few years. While prescription drugs are part of the solution, the Pharma. sector is an easy political target. Regards. Liacos_samui
