Asked about my PERSONAL SWING TRADE HABITS. . .Thought I'd share response: It depends on time of day, strength of market, time frame, float and circumstances. After DD and carefully considering downside risk. . .I buy most or all at first on swings. . .then just as it is getting discovered, I often make final buy [often after a sharp upward move]. . .but that buy is considered a day trade, so I often don't count it with a swing trade result. It is rare but not unheard of to buy a second time on the way up, but there had better be every indicator in favor. . . I make twice as many sells to come out at many different levels. . .I am not at all afraid of leaving money on the table. . .more concerned with getting my profits out. . . don't want to be the one that sold the top, there is no trophy. Rather be the one that got out with nice safe profits. Often, I will sell quarter original capital up 50pct, quarter to 3/4 original up 100 pct [depending on momentum], the rest of original investment immediately following at the "chosen" high . . .then watch free shares ride. . and even sell those in 3 or 4 limits, based on momentum. Often the final sells will occur on the way back down. . .this ensures that any further run ups won't occur without me. Another case for not trying to be the "one" that got out at the top. I have never once successfully exited at the top, and won't even try. Now this week all the rules are different. . .mania is so strong that I am letting FAR more money [bigger percentages of investment. . up to 100] ride FAR longer. That way I get the max gains. . . like I have said over and over. . .I wait all year to trade the first two weeks of April. . I can make bigger gains in two weeks than 95 percent of public can make all year long. I also like November thru January. Still looking to move winnings into safe hands the minute I "smell" this thing coming to an end. I lost WAY too much last year by trying to play into May. The smart money had left, but I was out of town on honeymoon and couldn't see correctly. . .and twitterpaited. . .don't have to tell me twice. Don't get addicted to this market and try to force it after it ends. . . you'll be the only one there rooting your stock. Rande Is
