I have checked out LPGLY rather thoroughly and have taken a position. I like the fact that it is a way to play a bunch of internet and high tech IPOs all at the same time while being paid a dividend from a sucessful insurance business while you wait. One thing that bothers me though. I am sure you have read about the past problems with the CEO, Trueger, and some of the pecularities of what they are doing now with the company. What do you think, is it anything we should worry about? What I mean is, are we going to get scammed or burned some how?

Paul,

Regarding LPGLY...

They own part of an internet startup (NETP) which is a local company here in the Twin Cities. The stock had a recent IPO and the share price doubled in one day. Now the company has a market cap similar to Imation, but revenues last year of only $5 million dollars and a net loss that equals revenues. The article I read voiced amazement at the valuation of this company.

I personally believe that there will be other software applications which will rival NETP's product. For example, if you use a search engine in Yahoo! or do a search for information on SNDK in one of the on-line technology periodicals you see web banners that pop-up that reflect your interests. (I can prove this to you.) I know that many sites create "cookies" on your hard drive and are aware of you each time you log onto their site and begin a query there. If SI were to do a key word summary on my posts I am sure they could come up with an all-to-accurate profile of me and my interests.

I have not investigated other LPGLY holding, but suspect there are similar stories. Now, if they held 10% of SanDisk shares it may be a different story!!!

I agree that LPGLY may be a good way to diversify risk if you wish to play the internet frenzy.

Paul,

Do a search for SanDisk in the "search box" and look at the banner that comes up. Now do you know what I mean?

techweb.com

Look at the banner.
