Overall, I liked it, though it is certainly a bizarre book. I discussed it with E at one point, and both of us felt that it would have benefited from editing and revision, both of which were precluded by the author's suicide. As an unfinished draft, it is a remarkable book, though I suspect that the author was very nearly as deranged as his principal character.

I enjoyed the dialogue; I asked Sherry because some reviewers commented on how authentic the rendition of New Orleans voices was. I've always wanted to get an opinion from someone who would know.
