" While AMD was demoing a very controlled behind the curtain type of presentation at maybe 600mhz, Intel has been demoing 1000Mhz systems with cooling and 800Mhz systems with no cooling in full view of the public. Why is AMD ashamed to publish benchmarks? "The K7 will begin life as a chip for desktop PCs. " Notice how AMD has backpeddled their position from "fastest processor on the planet" to just a processor for the desktop? Perfectly in keeping with their refusal to compare the Kmart-7 (tm pengel) with either Xeon or the upcoming Coppermine. EP

Robert - WinHec News -K7 will start at 500MHz From same PCWeek article: Due in June, the K7 will start at 500MHz and support between 512KB and 8MB of Level 2 cache. It will also utilize the EV6 front side bus, licensed from Digital Equipment Corp., running at 200MHz. Now what does this mean? Will start at? Are they going to release more than one speed grade, or is this the release speed? Why can't these guys just come out and say it. It's April. THEY KNOW! PB
