Uh huh. What do you want to bet, JBL? China moves on Taiwan (in some conventional military sense of the word, not an escalation of rhetoric) before 2001? What kind of odds would you place on it? You might remember more that me, but the only major Chinese military adventure I remember from the last 20 years was an attempt to "punish" Vietnam after the end of that war, for insufficient fealty or something. And it didn't work out very well for the Chinese. You can demonize the Chinese along with Clinton, if it gives you pleasure. But again, unless I missed something, the Chinese haven't shown much interest in a Reagan-style conventional force buildup.
