The reality of all this is that anyone with half a brain and a sense of objectivity will recognize that the Clinton Presidency was a populist experience in which propaganda, corruption, criminal behavior, and abuse of power were endorsed at the highest levels.

No matter what our friend Daniel says, Clinton will not be viewed as "you know, just this guy", but instead, as a con-artist, a manipulator, and a selfish, reckless pig, whose legacy will shame the US for years to come.

Clinton should have been elected President of Haiti when the Tontons Macoute were still en vogue.

They would have reminded him of his Arkansas buddies, and he, for once, would have been perfect in the role of a sleazy, greasy third rate dictator, spending his days eating, drinking, screwing around, and busy plotting to maintain himself in power.

Zoltan, the answer is really quite simple. "Term Limits"

If we had term limits, the Justice Department leadership (a.k.a. Janet Reno) could be examined reasonably by Congress without so many perceived hidden agenda's.

If we had term limits, politicians would be more accountable to the people for the laws they pass.

If we had term limits, we might regain that sense of stewardship over our elected officials and raise the percentage of people who vote or follow political actions. A lot of people don't vote because they don't believe it matters to vote. The politburo had roughly the same level of turnover as the U.S. Congress. What does that say about the advantages we give to incumbants? And what Democracy really means to us?

If we had term limits, more small business men and women would run for Congress. If you have ever run a business, you would know that our tax system is pathetic, incompetently written, way, way too complex and taxes our plenty high enough.

If we had term limits, maybe Congress could actually work for the good of the people and not the next PAC special interest group who gave them a huge donation.

I could go on and on.....

If the Republican congress would get back to the business of doing what got them elected in 94, they would get hot and put up for a vote every damn month, term limits, a balanced budget amendment, school choice and systemic across the board tax reduction legislation.

While they are at it, how about taking social security off budget! We have NO surplus! What we have is slick willy type accounting gimmicks. And for crying out loud! If Chile can develop a plan for privatizing it's social security system and educate it's people about the benefits, why can't we??

Why? Because we have a bunch of cowardly politicians, hypnotized by power, who are more worried about being in Congress for 30 years than doing what's right.
