DELL SAILS INTO SHANGHAI MARKET ASIAINFO - April 14, 1999 06:54 SHANGHAI, April 14, AsiaPort - Dell, a computer company in the United States, is elbowing its Dimension desktop line designed for small businesses and families into the Shanghai market. The consumer desktop segment in China grew by 75 percent last year and the growth rate will reach 52 percent this year. Shanghai is a key part of its market in China, that is witnessing growing sales of computers. Many local families have started to use computers but the market is still undeveloped, insiders said. To meet the increasing needs, Dell has set up factory in Xiamen, Fujian Province, to manufacture computers.
