There is currently no uplink capability - the back channel is via phone lines or other ISP link. The current benefit is high speed download. But several wireless uplink systems are in the works and should start rolling out later this year. The idea is use conventional wireless technology for the relatively low-bandwidth back channel and satellite for the download. Not ideal but as Victor points out, the only high speed option for many parts of the world.
