Boxed- short and long at the same time for a net neutral position.

When you find shares to borrow for your short, sometimes you want to keep them for shorting later. Buy equal shares long, they offset each other.

You go back short by selling your long position, what you can do any time... no uptick needed, no shares to find.

So Auric is now short at a basis for this go-round at $22. The lower it goes, the more he makes.
